Hello Fellow Ants!

My name is Lauren, and I am the newest member to join the Antengo team! This is an exciting gig for me, as I am going to be setting up some events for us to get out of the office and meet up with you guys. If you’ve got something fun going on in San Diego, be sure to let me know…Antwan has serious FOMO (fear of missing out). We can help increase sales (if you’re selling stuff at your events) and engagement, at no cost to anyone and almost no setup time.

We had an awesome time with Tower Paddle Boards at our Antengo Holiday Party! Thanks to Stephan and team for donating a paddle and free board rentals to our charity cause, which benefited the ARTS Foundation. Tower Paddle Boards is another San Diego company making moves fast with a product that sells itself: $1500-quality Stand-Up Paddle Boards at half the price! We have a few of their boards around the office, and let me tell you, we are very happy customers! Speaking of happy, has anyone seen the Tower Girls catching rays on the beaches?

Antwan recently stumbled upon their Facebook profile, and decided to offer his services on Antengo as a “Bikini Model Photographer (no professional experience) for hire,” just so he can join them!

We are busy brewing up some more surprises…be sure to “Like” us on Facebook, and keep an antenna out, so I can keep y’all posted!

Until next time,
Lauren

Folks,

We haven’t blogged in a while (as we’re still majorly heads down, mostly working on killer new products for your phones), but felt compelled to do SOMETHING about the heated SOPA debates. I’m sure you’ve heard already, but this bill, the way it’s been written, we understand could ruin so so much that we as interwebz users love, cherish, and rely on! The largest networks that we rely on for our daily sanity & livelihood, like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, et al, could be forced to block us from using them at time if SOPA were to pass. Such tight regulations for a majority of content online would ABSOLUTELY upend the internet as we know it, turning a major source of jobs, freedom of speech, open sourcing & innovation in our country into the internet as it’s regulated/”presented” in China or North Korea, as some extreme examples.

What can you do? We’re all uber busy. It starts with just getting the word out and challenging this old guard mindset by leveraging the very medium they want to overthrow. Change your twitter & facebook profile pics to “Stop SOPA” images. See mine for an example: www.twitter.com/antceo.

Here’s a wikipedia article explaining the bill (you won’t be able to read it for 24hrs, starting at 12am EST Weds, 1/18, as Wikipedia is protesting by shutting down for 24hrs):

It’s time to raise your anttenna one last time. Just like that, we are now officially “Antengo,” and we love it! The new identity marks an important milestone for the first-ever mobile/real-time classifieds service. We are growing up. I’d peg us at just entering puberty…our voice is changing, and we’re about to impress a lot of girls with the new image. As soon as we get through puberty and grow into our new brand, we’ll be rolling out all kinds of big product improvements, in addition to some entire new products.

For now, the new iPhone app is basically the same as before, minus some of the text and our slogan, “Finally, real-time classifieds.”

Anttuan is still our mascot and roaming the streets of San Diego. Stay tuned for more free stuff and exciting announcements that will take mobile microlistings to the next level.

Please follow our new Facebook and Twitter pages!

Yesterday, Antengo launched its campaign with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in Seattle for their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraising campaign. Since 1954, the International Association of Fire Fighters has teamed up with MDA for their Fill-the-Boot campaigns. Fire fighters volunteer their time – and boots – to collect donations at various locations in different cities and neighborhoods across the country. Washington State began their campaign in May, with Seattle holding their two day event over July 15th & 16th.

Now, how does Antengo get involved in something like this? Location, of course!

This year, the MDA has teamed up with Antengo to post listings of each of their Fill-the-Boot locations throughout Seattle. Antengo brings a community-focused technology to a long-standing tradition by raising awareness of donation locations. For July 15th & 16th, we’ve got nearly 30 listings showing the closest donation center to you. People with the mobile application simply have to search in the “Donate”, “Volunteer”, or “Lend-a-Hand” categories to find one of the many location postings around them.

At Antengo, we are proud of our community-driven postings, look for more in your area soon!

Last Wednesday, my Antengo team and I took a trip to the Ocean Beach Farmers’ Market to have some fun and spread the word about Antengo. Talk about a great place for location-based marketing. I mean, if you were walking through an insanely crowded farmers’ market, wouldn’t you want to know what vendors were selling what and their location? With all of the different fresh produce, delicious foods, beautiful art and other local items, it would definitely be a shame to overlook anything.

When we first arrived at the market, the team went around to all the vendors to tell them a bit about the app and see if they were interested in a listing being created for them. Sure enough, the majority of them liked the idea of a free app that could potentially attract more people to their booth. After that, it was time for me to make my appearance.

As I walked down the streets, dancing, waving, posing for photos, and doing my thing, most people were staring at me like they’d never seen a giant ant before. But hey, that’s when I let my fellow Ant team members fill them in about Antengo and me.

Overall, the OB Farmer’s Market was a success. Will more farmers’ markets be on the agenda in the future? Most definitely. Check out more photos here.

Hello and welcome to Antengo’s blog! I’m Anttuan, Antengo’s wildly unpredictable mascot. For those of you who may not know, we are a free mobile application that provides businesses and consumers with a real-time, location-based mobile “microlistings” marketplace for the exchange of goods and services. In a nutshell, traditional classified listings are turned into geo-tagged, Twitter-sized listings so you can see exactly what is being sold in your community more importantly, where to find it.

This blog will keep you posted on upcoming events, the latest Antengo updates, and of course, my crazy adventures around San Diego. Be sure to check out our Facebook and Twitter!
